Potential Boyfriends in an on-going project of 2-5 minute sketches drawn from screengrabs of profiles shown to my personal Tinder account. The first 120 of these drawings were made of men within 21 miles of Wellington New Zealand, between the ages 26-37, active on Tinder within the last two days. Tropes such as dead pigs, caught fish, sunglasses, baseball hats, beer chugging, and exotic animals were so prevalent as to seem a secret language of their own. The drawings watch and record en masse the male gaze as it attempts to imagine what an ideal mate would find attractive and casually enact that fantasy.
